Supporting the therapeutic process with embodied relational practices

Nourishing touch is a crucial component of wellbeing. A systematic review in Nature Human Behavior summarizes the benefits of 212 studies on touch. "Physical touch benefits our mental and physical health, particularly around sleep, heart rate, mood, blood pressure, mobility, anxiety, depression, fatigue, and pain for adults."

Although touch is typically (but not always) excluded from talk therapy environments, it is widely accepted in boundaried professional spaces such as massage therapy and even body psychotherapy.

The Cambridge Body Psychotherapy Centre describes how touch can enhance clients’ therapeutic process. The section titled “Touch in Psychotherapy” shows how a range of client challenges and barriers can be supported with a touch/embodied approach.

Cuddle Therapy, Connection Coaching and touch-positive connection events are safe, boundaried containers for touch and connection, which support individual clients and their wellbeing.

Additionally, this work can support therapists directly by filling up their cup and training their relating skills, so they can serve their clients better.

How can clients benefit from embodied relational practices?

How does it work?

Clients can benefit from this work 1-1 or in group settings. Please see my services for more details on each.

Not all clients feel ready for group sessions immediately. An initial consultation call is required to confirm the fit for 1-1 sessions. We can discuss specific suitability and limitations.

What are some benefits to clients' therapeutic process?

Bridging insight and practice

Therapy often brings understanding, but clients may struggle to form lasting embodied change. Embrace Connection provides a safe, structured space to practice boundaries, trust, and authentic expression in real time. Allow your clients to implement and practice the lessons they learn with you. â€‹

Unlocking new perspectives

Experimenting in a safe new boundaried environment provides fresh information, giving rise to new understanding and potential untangling of existing issues and root causes. These are valuable insights to bring back to the therapeutic process.

Getting un-stuck

When clients struggle to overcome certain barriers, it can be frustrating for both client and therapist. Presenting an opportunity for an alternative approach can bring a shift, and the therapeutic journey can then continue to progress.

Enhancing client outcomes

Clients who feel more resourced, have good nervous-system regulation and feel connected in their body can engage in talk therapy with more presence, leading to steadier progress and more integrated results.

Alternative:

Working directly with therapists

Helping therapists support their clients better

Besides peer collaboration, I also work directly with therapists and counsellors, who attend Embrace Connection events and benefit from 1-1 sessions.

Holding space for clients can be draining over time. How do you resource and replenish yourself personally and professionally? Cuddle Therapy and Intimacy Jam events are opportunities to be held instead of holding others.

New exclusive connection event for professionals

"Fill up your cup" is launching on January 28th 2026. Connect with peers experiencing similar challenges and stresses. Enjoy mutual support and nourishment.

Care and safety

Safety is fundamental to growth and transformation. In order to be vulnerable and open up, an individual has to feel safe enough to trust. To test personal edges, they must keep one foot squarely within their comfort zone.

For this reason, safety and consent are at the heart of Embrace Connection.

Every 1:1 session is guided by a Code of Conduct and clear professional boundaries.
Group spaces are held in a nervous system-aware, consent-based way, detailed in the Safer Spaces Agreement.

Every client and participant confirms that they have read and agreed to these before booking.
