Embodied relational practices for therapists and clients
Wholesome touch is vital for wellbeing.
For clients
Many clients are lonely and touch deprived. When clients are unable to fulfil their fundamental need for wholesome touch, it can restrict their therapeutic process.
Unfortunately, touch is not a part of most therapy. It is impossible to do online. Most professional associations and modalities do not allow it. Many therapists feel uncomfortable with touch or are unwilling to use it.
How can we help clients get the nourrishing touch and hands-on skills they need?

You can only pour from a full cup, and can only guide others where you have walked before.

Bridge insight and practice
Therapy often brings understanding, but clients may struggle to embody change. Embrace Connection provides a safe, structured space to practice boundaries, trust, and authentic expression in real time. Allow your clients implement and practice the lessons they learn with you.

Unlock new perspectives
Experimenting in a new environment provides new information. Perhaps a mess of issues can untangle to reveal the root cause. Perhaps something entirely new arises. These are valuable elements to bring back to the therapeutic process.
Get un-stuck
When clients struggle to overcome certain barriers, it is frustrating and disheartening for everybody. If an alternative approach can bring a shift, then the therapeutic journey can continue.

Enable access to connection and touch
If touch is not accesible through therapy, By enabling touch and connection in other ways, clients can have certain fundamental needs met, which allows them to focus on other parts of their therapeutic journey.

Enhance client outcomes
Clients who feel more regulated, resourced, and connected in their bodies can engage more fully in talk therapy, leading to steadier progress and more integrated results.

Care and Safety
Comfort and safety are fundamental. In order to be vulnerable and open up, we have to feel safe enough to trust. If we want to test our edges, we must have one foot squarely in our comfort zone.

I have put a lot of care into creating safer spaces for 1-1 sessions and group events. See details here. Every client and participant confirms that they have read this page before booking.

My background
I am a trained Cuddle Therapist, certified by Cuddle Professionals International.
I hold public liability and professional indemnity insurance, as well as an active DBS certificate.

I have spent years developing and practicing my consent, communication and space holding practices through trainings, workshops and personal practice before feeling ready to work professionally in this capacity. I continue to refine my practice as I work with more people and their diverse needs.

My value system, personal integrity, self-awareness, years of practice and commitment to supporting others give protection to the people I work with.

Regulation
I use the BACP Code of Ethics as a framework of best practice.

This industry is not regulated. While this carries inherent risk of bad actors, it empowers individual practitioners to carry the responsibility of creating safe environments and practicing safe, ethical behaviour.

1:1 Sessions
Safety and consent are at the heart of my work. Every 1:1 session is guided by a tailored Code of Conduct and clear professional boundaries.

I take responsibility for guiding and upholding modern consent practices, while supporting clients to discover and express their own boundaries. Regular check-ins ensure that clients remain in choice at every moment.

Each session is client-led:
-
There are no expectations around the type or amount of touch.
-
Clients always opt in to every activity.
-
Going slowly, pausing, or choosing no touch at all are fully welcome.

My practice is nervous-system informed and trauma-informed. If a client becomes triggered, I can support them to regulate and return to safety. I am clear that I am not a trauma therapist, and I refer clients to specialist support when needed.

Group sessions
Group spaces are held with a strong framework of agreements, including:
-
Advocating for one’s own needs and boundaries
-
Respecting and supporting the boundaries of others
-
Seeking clear consent and repairing if needed
-
Maintaining a sober, non-sexual space
Consent and communication practices are built into the structure from the start, ensuring participants have both guidance and tools to navigate the session safely.

Participation is always voluntary, and participants are encouraged to take space whenever needed. Throughout, I hold a steady presence — monitoring for wellbeing, supporting regulation, and ensuring a culture of care.
